week 2 of the NPP program is officially over! which means HELL week is only 3 days away. for the next 2 weeks, school ends at 5pm DAILY.

shit.

well, like what imran said, 2 weeks to “ORD“.

anyway, here’s the outline for this post in a tin can.

- exploring ngee ann
- presentation day for biz comms (core module)
- quote of the day
- doodles!
- ‘gotta be somebody’ lyrics

exploring ngee ann
in lieu of our presentation (which was today), we had to walk around to take photos. the topic we chosen was entitled “Ngee Ann for Dummies” (WHICH SHAWN HUANG’S GROUP GLADLY COPIED). Well, go figure, it’s a dummies guide for ngee ann students…

anyway. here are some of the photos that i took.

photo068
the big banner that greets us every morning

photo0661
CANTEEN 1! it’s the canteen that serves the BEST JAPANESE FOOD.

but they’re freaking gonna demolish it. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?!

photo076
i’ll dub this canteen the ‘prata canteen’ cause the indian food stall there serves the best prata in campus :D (very biased statement).

the only setback was the waiting time. i had to wait 1-hour to get 2 cheese prata. :(

photo080
canteen 4. this canteen is so isolated that i was shocked to know that it actually existed.

honest!

photo082
guess what this place is!

photo083
if you guessed makan place, you’re so right!

subway in makan place
there’s subway in campus! i’m saved =]

presention day!
presentation day was today and i have to say, i think my group performed awesomely well.

we were way different compared to when we were rehearsing on thursday. and of course, i enjoyed speaking in front of people.

it was so fun lah. oh and, i’m gonna quote what qi heng said in class just now. i just cannot forget what he said.

quote of the day
qi heng said these during the presentation.

“to stay awake in class, we should eat sweets so that it would stimulate our mind and get more oxygen in our brains“.

AND

“we should sleep the earlier the night before to get more oxygen in our brains

he freaking said the bolded-italic words 4 times (within 2 minutes) during the presentation. i was like, “wtf is he saying. he’s making no freaking sense”

good job qiheng! =]

doodles
since classes now are uber long (the shortest class being 2 freaking hours), i’ve had some time to doodle.

thus, these doodles were born.

do you remember…

this guy?

‘gotta be somebody’ lyrics
this song has been stuck in my head for quite some time (as well as other songs from other artists/bands like fall out boy!!)

here’s the chorus of the song.

Gotta Be Somebody – Nickelback

‘Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
‘Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There’s gotta be somebody for me like that
‘Cause nobody wants to do it on their own
And everyone wants to know they’re not alone
There’s somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There’s gotta be somebody for me out there

well, if you wanna be somebody…LISTEN TO THIS SONG ON YOUTUBE. it rawks. =]

it’s been a while since i’ve last updated my blog. it feels good to be back.

unlike last time, i haven’t been happily snapping away with my phone. and for a good reason of course: school has started!

well, i’m going into week 2 of the 7 week DPA program by ngee ann polytechnic. basically, they we are taking modules that take at least 1 semester to complete and completing them in just 7 weeks.

the environment is completely different from secondary school. there’s much more freedom in the poly: freedom that i’m still trying to catch hold of and enjoy.

for the time being, here’s 3 photos that i would like to share with you.

photo065
guess where this bridge leads you to INSIDE ngee ann!! if you guessed loft@94 (or the rock climbing wall or…), you’re right! :D

photo066
this depleted bar of toothpaste, apparently, is my source of inspiration for my CATS (creative applied thinking skills) assignment. i’m so glad to be able to complete the assignment way on time hehe.

remember i blogged about project rice last week? in it, i said that i had a time of my life doing charity work.

you might be guessing why. well, here’s why!

for the first time ever to hit your computer screen, it’s a motion picture evidence of DHINESH SCREAMING “MOMMMMMMYYY”! (don’t mind the sound quality, we were on a moving truck).

unless you’re not human or you’re anti-chinese, you would’ve already know that tomorrow is CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!

that means money coming to me in red packets (money to cover for my FOB Concert ticket) i get to visit my relatives (whom i haven’t seen for almost a year)

that’s tomorrow and the day after of course. today, i had a simple reunion dinner with my grandma and family. here’s a photo from the back of her house.

photo067
i love my grandma’s cooking. there is some unique taste to her dishes. (if she were a businesswoman, she could open a chinese restaurant - and i could be the manager :D )

and finally, here’s a quote of what my impression of a businessman should be like.

why work in a hotel when you can own a hotel?

3 cheers for CHINESE NEW YEAR!

blog post content:

- project R.I.C.E.
- lego mania
- thoughts before school

before i continue, since i haven’t been faithfully blogging, i have to warn you that this post will be really really long.

project R.I.C.E
i decided to spend my sunny Sunday (morning and afternoon) with dhinesh, jonald and mark doing charitable stuffs. well, we also had a little bit of edbert involved in our group.

photo045
this is me saying: “wowee! i’m so excited about volunteering for project R.I.C.E.!!!

photo057
and this is xiao bai! (literally meaning small white) what a cool name right!!

photo059
the guy who tried convincing me to go TP after O Levels…
and he’s MARK!

photo061
then came edbert. i’d bet he’s still distributing rice now. there was so much leftovers when we left around 530. poor guy.

photo050
the chinese towkay (businessman) in the making.

photo053
basically, our job for today was to load, unload and deliver packets of RICE to different places in Singapore. of course, needy families will receive it.

it feels extremely good being a volunteer. cause i get a free t-shirt!

photo054
we were being camwhores

photo049
being a ‘delivery man’ is a really tough and tiring job. i doubt i’ll ever need to go to the gym if i ever decide to become one.

photo047
i believe this was the last group shot before we parted at 530 to get moving to our different appointments.

photo051
part of our job was to sit in the back of the gigantic truck and wait for it to get to different places. since we had nothing to do (no poker cards duhh), i started playing around with camera angles.

photo055
i think i’m kinda lucky to be able to catch this shot.

photo062
dhinesh wanted to take a photo of this. but failed. so i took it for him. :D

but then. he did something that no ordinary dhinesh would do: he tried taking another photo!!

photo063
and this is what he took. and i must say, it’s really good (for an amateur heh).

i’ve got a short video clip of dhinesh doing something awfully stupid (but funny) at the back of the truck. it was so funny that our stomachs, cheeks and throats were hurting from all that laughter. i’ll post it up real soon.

i will freaking miss hanging out with you guys when the actual school term starts in april (for the polytechnics). anyhow, i really do hope to see you guys real soon!!

lego mania
i’m a deprived child. i’ve been deprived from quite a number of great things like LEGO. if you’re wondering whether you could eat it: you were like me.

we went to benlai’s house for a project meeting for yuhong’s movie/video. out of a really cold, dark and creepy place commonly known as the store room, benlai took out a couple of boxes of LEGO!!

and using different colored rectangular pieces known as lego blocks, i built this:
photo022
my fortress!

photo023
comes complete with a shooting range!

photo026
and a roof to protect yourselves from any flying debris (from above)

of course, it being made of lego blocks, the protection doesn’t work.

photo027
the aftermath

photo028
our mess

photo029
i’m not too sure what this is, but i’ll just post it up anyway.

playing with lego is fun. awesomely fun.

and finally…

thoughts before school

there are so many wonders, thoughts and worries that makes me want to just step back, think and message or talk to my friends about.

i’m still wondering if i made the right choice by going to NP. everyone’s saying “you’ve made the right choice” over and over again. but i dare question the legitimacy of it.

and right now, i need someone to hold a conversation with.

perhaps my physically and mentally tired body is preventing me from getting in touch with anyone. (it’s 917pm now and i plan to bunk into bed by 935 heh).

well, i got some work to do. so i guess i’ll leave you guys here.

first day of school tomorrow! i’m nervous (of course), but i somehow can’t wait to start tomorrow.

until then!

if you’re wondering how i did for my o levels, i’d tell you that i did better than what i had originally expected.

let me recall the page about my expected grades for o levels…yeah its here. now, we’ll start the comparison

(ps. if you’re too lazy to hop over to the other post, you can see it below)

here’s the result slip!
photo021

in comparison, in the format
Subject – Actual Grade (Expt Grade) [remarks]

CLB: PASS (pass) [YEAH BABY. I DEFIED THE ODDS AND PASSED CHINESE B]

L1R4: 8 (10)
L1R5: 10 (13)

my months of hard work has finally paid off!

and i would like to thank everyone who have been supporting me throughout 2008. without you, i don’t think i would have done as well as i could.

Until next time,
