when the invitation emails were sent out, it sounded like an interesting competition. we could try applying what we’ve learnt for the past 3 semesters into one competition. oh boy, did i regret. to be honest, it’s the worst competition i’ve ever joined

to begin with, the event took place mid-way of term 2: when all of us had deadlines to meet. to make things worst, we had to make our decisions by 2pm, over 6 days, each day. since our teammates were either busy when i’m free or vice versa, we could only meet in the evening.

and because of that, we had to stay in school until 11pm everyday, for 6 days! that means reaching home at midnight and being back there by 9am. my house literally became my hotel room.

oh and, did i mention about the 74-page manual that everyone had to read?!

well, our efforts paid off and we got into the semi finals

if you’re thinking, “oh congrats! you got into the semi-finals”…think again.

when i read this e-mail, nothing but swearing words came out of my mouth. “WTF WE GOT INTO THE SEMI-FINALS? WE’RE SO ****ing DOOMED. **** LAH. WHY THE **** DID WE GET IN…” (i’m exaggerating)

this was the first competition i wished that i didn’t get into the semi-finals. why? because our routine was to continue

by then, we were desperate. we needed accommodation near school because it just isn’t practical reaching home at midnight and coming back by nine in the morning. it just wasn’t feasible at all

thankfully, our teacher-in-charge managed to book a room for us! that way, we weren’t rushed to make decisions because we could sleep late and still get to our classes on time.

if anybody on this world recommends this competition to you, DON’T JOIN IT. YOU WILL REGRET!

they performed so well that their dota team clinched THIRD at the Asian World Cyber Games, which earned them a news paper feature!

it’s been a while since i last had a proper post here. (i did a mini check at my calendar and realised i’ve been logging an average of 1 post a week!)

nonetheless, here’s a summary of what’s been happening (well…some of it) over the past week.

- ambassador training and bonding camp
- dinner at kanesh’s house
- someday by nickelback

ambassador training and bonding camp
group 4 rocks!
the ambassadors training and bonding (tnb) camp recently ended and i’ve only got to say this: everyone there rocks!

when i stepped into camp with only 3 hours of sleep the day before, i knew it was going to be a challenge for me to be sociable and talk people i don’t know.

to cut the long story short, i’m proud to say that i’ve forged new friendships and made many new friends.

one of them was matthew. don’t be deceived by his innocent looks! on the outside, he’s nice. on the inside, he’s gay and scary

put these 2 together and you won’t be able to stop laughing

with the lack of sleep comes to lack of “processing power” than my brain can possibly output. i can clearly recall moments of me being slow. i can clearly remember when we were tasked to write a question that we couldn’t answer, i went ahead and write the opposite: a stupid question that could be answered.

what do i mean? well, when everyone wrote questions like, “how do i be happy?” or “how to manage time?”, my idiotic brain told my hands to write, “have you gone drinking, smoked a cigarette or watched an M18 movie below the legal age of 18 before?”

i also recall another idiotic moment during the personalized tour segment. when violet (the evil group leader) started to pretend she was feeling feverish. also immediately, my brain interpreted her to be thirsty and not otherwise. (you can imagine the embarrassment i went through)

nonetheless, regardless of all these stupid and idiotic moments, i had a blast. and i hope my teammates did too.

one regret that i had was the laziness and the lack of intention to write notes for my teammates. i feel awfully guilty when i received a ton of notes from people.

many of these notes touched me. it did make me feel guilty for not writing something for them. i wished i did something about it.

ah yes, how could i forget the person who persuaded me into dpa and ambassadors

dinner at kanesh’s house
dinner at kanesh’s house was the one reason why i felt sleepy during camp.

i was under this impression that i was going there for dinner and dinner only. afterwards, i would go home and have a good night’s rest in lieu of camp. but i thought wrong.

i was persuaded and sweet-talked into staying over at kanesh’s house. consequently, we slept late and woke up early.

describing this “bed” as comfortable would be an understatement

enough complaining and whining and the lack of sleep, the food that kanesh’s family put together was awesome!

even though it was a simple dinner, kanesh had done a lot to make it a nice evening for all of us. this includes the setting!

- eat a happy meal at mcdonalds (and give the toy to junde)
- play badminton

- catch up with sleep

THE IT SHOW IS OVER!

well, i worked there over the weekend just for the fun of it. also partially because of junde, who begged asked me to. and because i wanted to learn a little bit about consumer behavior.

and if there was one thing about consumer behavior that i learnt, there’s a minority group that deserves to be shot dead! (and yes, this is the part where i vent my frustrations as a flyer-giver)

this group of people are known to me as people who do not acknowledge your existence

meaning, if i were to offer these people flyers, they would pretend as if you never offered them. in fact, they will NOT look at you. i encountered enough of these fuckers that i was so tempted to punch one.

thank God junde was beside me, who laughed at them with me, while we were giving out flyers.

anyhow, kai lun, zhen wei and jonald claimed to have experienced paranormal activites in school. i was at mcdonalds with mark when it happened. so i cannot comment further.

BUT DAMN, wouldn’t it be cool to meet a school ghost?

8 weeks ago, my life was shattered into millions of pieces when something called Ngee Ann Preparatory Program (NPP) started.

i’m not sure if the program ending is a good or bad thing, but…I’ve 5 weeks of holidays now. AND I’M GONNA ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST.

it’s not really done yet. but i didn’t sleep at 3am last night for no reason

before you carry on thinking that i’ve changed and all that shit, here’s my side of the story

in a sense, mindworks was over for me. i had finished my presentation (which i rushed through) on monday. since i’ve been having late nights, thanks to most of the stuffs that have been happening, i needed the extra hour of sleep.

my alarm rang as per normal at 7:05am. but i gladly silenced it and went back to sleep.

dad tried to wake me up twice. but to no avail, he failed.

anyway, to cut the story short. i woke up late, left home left, and reached school late. if you wanna know how late i left home…it’s 9:01pm now. 12 hours ago, i left home.

for the record, mindworks class is OVER. yipee. this means i dont have to wake up early next monday and wednesday for school! wheeeeeee.

there’s a first for everything yeah?

1 more week till the end of NPP. i can’t wait for the holidays. arghhhh.

jan said i was drenched after a game of basketball, yet i didn’t believe her. so i had hua xiang (who was next to me) to take this photo: to prove to me that i was reaaaaally drenched.

oh yeah, i was performing magic tricks (like stigmata and waving the aces) in school; just to entertain people. though my performing skills are awfully rusty, it’s nice to see the confused faces of people after i’m done with the trick.

i promised mel that i’ll perform more tricks for her (and maybe the others) during the camp.

aw shit, i gotta recall and practise the routines.

it wasn’t an easy set-up for the name player (which i think was rina). nonetheless, she defied the odds and pulled out a block without toppling the whole tower.

oh and after the briefing for the orientation camp, not one but TWO rainbows were seen in the sky!

come to think of it, i wonder why people went crazy when they saw the rainbows.

oh wells. tomorrow’s the last day of school for the week. IT’S CELEBRATION TIME AFTER BCOMM!

my sincere apologies

i have to sincerely apologise, if you’re an intrigued reader of my blog, for not being able to blog as much as i would like to during this period.

i’m just too caught up with so many projects that my efficiency level has dropped drastically. i’ll work my ass off to get it up. but for the time being, this post will definitely be delivered on sunday. =]

- the Singapore Pro Shootout which will be taking place on the 8th february 2009 (the rules was done up by me – good quality shit right!!)

these are the current 3 major projects. and i’m struggling really badly with them. i need desperate help in order to keep up with expectations and ultimately, the deadline.

oh wait, maybe this post could count as a blog post! since (according to the word count at this point), has at least 160 words.

but of course, i’m not your cheapskate average singaporean who takes shortcuts by producing low quality shit. pictures of last monday’s bbq (see how slow i am!!) coming soon.
